Nominations now open for 2024 OHS Honours: Celebrating excellence in workplace safety

Nominations are now open for 2024 OHS Honours. This prestigious awards program, designed to recognize and celebrate the outstanding contributions of individuals and teams in the field of occupational health and safety (OHS), is set to be bigger and better than ever.
“We’ve added two new award categories this year,” said Paul Burton, publisher for OHS Canada. “Every year, we’re blown away by the quality of the work being done by professionals and organizations across the country and we look forward to recognizing them. There is no more important job in any organization than ensuring your staff make it home safe at the end of every day.”
Key dates and categories
The deadline for nominations Friday, May 3, 2024 at midnight.
This year’s program features a variety of categories across individual and team awards, including the new “CEO of the Year” and “Contractor Safety Management Award” categories.
Individual awards recognize achievements in several areas such as OHS Professional of the Year, Community Leader Award, OHS Rising Star Award, OHS Lawyer of the Year, and the Hall of Fame, which will see three new inductees in 2024.
The “Top 25 Under 40” category will also return, celebrating young professionals who are leading by example with strong work ethics and dedication to health and safety.
Team awards will honour excellence in OHS Culture, Safety Communications, Use of Safety Technology, Hand Protection Programs, Psychologically Safe Workplace, and Best Ergonomics Program, among others. These awards aim to showcase the best-in-class practices that companies and teams have implemented to ensure safety and well-being in the workplace.
“A big part of these awards is not just celebrating the winners, but also telling their stories in-depth,” said Todd Humber, senior editor for OHS Canada. “It’s always an honour to share their stories, and safety professionals aren’t shy to share what is — and isn’t — working.”

Nominations are open to anyone in Canada who meets the criteria for individual awards, as well as companies and teams demonstrating OHS success for business/team awards.
