Draeger Safety, Inc. is named North American HUB for Draeger Products

February 28, 2005 – – Pittsburgh, PA – – In following with Draeger Safetys global strategy for materials availability, Draeger Safety, Inc. in Pittsburgh has been named one of three Draeger corporate central distribution points for delivering the companys respiratory protection and gas detection products around the world. These three operating centers which are strategically located in (1) Germany, servicing Europe and South America, (2) Pittsburgh, servicing, the USA, Canada and Mexico and (3) Singapore, which will service Asia Pacific and Australia, will be known as operating Hubs within the company. Each office will be responsible for maintaining inventories for customer demands, and replenishing the Hub inventories through a network of global suppliers, including Draegers own manufacturing operations. With this total global business integration of Draeger Safety, the company hopes to improve customer satisfaction while gaining a competitive advantage ultimately contributing to the groups overall success.

Draegers parent company located in Luebeck, Germany, felt that the Pittsburgh location was ideal to minimize overall operating costs, providing better on-time delivery and increased customer satisfaction. We see a large growth opportunity in the North American market to increase market share through a value added product portfolio and responsiveness to customer demands. This will be achieved by centralizing our inventory into regions for direct shipments to the end user while developing a world-wide planning network for customer demands through procurement. We all continue to target our common goal, which is to keep the right inventory at the right time. said Mr. Michael Skorija, Head of North American Hub operations.

Along with Draeger Interservices, Inc., which manages the warehousing functions of the new Hub strategy, Draeger Safety, Inc., expects to achieve greater benefits through Interservices experience in logistic management, on time shipments and warehouse material flow as well as attributing to the groups overall success.

Draeger Safety, a manufacturer of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus and Gas Detection instruments, has been based in the Pittsburgh area since the beginning of the last century. The original office, opened in 1908 was located in the Commercial Building at 422 Fifth Avenue.
