Construction worker in Toronto dies after falling into a trench

Toronto police say a construction worker who was rescued after falling into a trench on Monday has died.

Toronto Fire Services say they received a call shortly after 5 p.m. at a residential area in Etobicoke where they say a male worker had fallen four metres down into a trench.

Police say the worker, who they’ve identified as a man in his 30s, was rescued and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but he later died.

They say the Ministry of Labour is now investigating.
