TORONTO – A man working on renovations at Toronto’s island airport has died after falling off the roof.

Ports Toronto, which runs the city’s Billy Bishop Airport, says the man was working on a terminal upgrade project when the incident occurred late Tuesday morning.

The agency says the man was a sub-contractor with PCL Construction, but did not provide details about his age or identity. They say the man was pronounced dead on the scene.

Toronto police and the Ontario Ministry of Labour were both called to the site of what’s been described as an “industrial accident.”

Ports Toronto did not offer details as to the cause of the accident, but says an investigation is underway and offered condolences to the man’s family.
