A Shared Vision for Business Sustainability – Partners in Prevention conference series returns this fall

The instability of the past 3 years presented businesses with economic disruption, increased demands, and unprecedented challenges. It also vaulted ‘sustainability’ into the spotlight leaving many leaders wondering…how do we get there?

Employee well-being has never been more important, but a 2022 survey suggests that many corporate leaders grossly underestimate the value of health and safety to their workforce. There is also a mounting body of evidence to support the idea that ‘health and safety focused’ organizations are outperforming their counterparts on several fronts. This further substantiates the notion that a happy, engaged, and well-protected workforce, operating in in a safe, inclusive environment is key to building a sustainable, productive, and profitable organization.

This fall, Workplace Safety & Prevention Services (WSPS) is set to engage business and OHS leaders in meaningful discussions around this important topic. The Partners in Prevention (PIP) conference series returns to Kitchener, Thunder Bay, and Niagara with a shared vision for a sustainable future, driven by a more resilient workforce. What’s on the table? Participants can anticipate a wealth of shared experience, actionable resources, and tailored solutions, all packaged in a format that encourages transformative learning through engaging dialogue and a collaborative, proactive approach.

“A collective commitment to the safety, health, and wellbeing of the workforce is imperative if we want to foster more resilient and sustainable workplaces,” says Kiran Kapoor, Vice President, Service Delivery WSPS. “By bringing experts with cross functional perspectives together to address complex issues, the PIP agenda is customized to help businesses develop a framework for a sustainable path forward with workable tools to manage risk and strengthen health and safety strategies.”

To help businesses stay ahead of the complex stressors challenging the sector, all 3 conference agendas address the most urgent and emerging health and safety issues including a focus on mental health, inclusivity and the importance of psychologically safe workplaces, supervisor responsibilities, safe materials handling, improving PPE, and emergency preparedness. Interactive sessions with the Ministry of Labor, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) will spotlight ministry initiatives and priorities of the 5-year Prevention Works strategy. Customized sessions are also planned in each region to provide information, tools and resources to tackle more prevalent OHS issues with a more tailored and personalized approach.

PIP Golden Horseshoe – Niagara Falls, Friday, November 17

The series kicks off in Southwestern Ontario, with author and world-renowned underwater explorer, Jill Heinerth. The day of learning begins with her visually stunning presentation, encouraging audiences to reach beyond their limitations, challenge the unknown, and overcome their fears, while sharing practical lessons on risk management, discovery learning, failure, and collaboration.

For the Golden Horseshoe and Forum North in the northwest, Leo Barbe, author, founder, and lead presenter of Think, Don’t Shoot is a featured key-note speaker. Leo will share his near-death experience and connect with the audience to deliver a powerful lesson on the power of emotions and how to build emotional intelligence strategies to fuel personal and corporate growth.

Throughout the conference series, a comprehensive exploration of best practices awaits. Strategies to nurture a culture of workplace health and safety will be in sharp focus, alongside practical tactics to elevate business performance, boost brand impact and the bolster the bottom-line.
