New Program Informs Workers on the Effects of Working in Cold Weather

Dec. 2014 – BELLEVILLE, Ont. – Anyone who works outside on a regular basis knows that at some point you will experience cold and wet weather conditions. These working conditions can threaten your ability to do your job safely, as cold can have negative effects on the body. This is known as cold stress.

 

A new program, Cold Stress: Working Safely in Cold Weather, helps employees understand and recognize why it’s important to keep an eye out for the effects of cold stress. Topics covered include: hypothermia symptoms and prevention, frostbite symptoms and treatment, and trench foot treatment.
