Stewart Day: Health and safety director at Mobilinx in Mississauga, Ont., age 36

For Stewart Day, safety is about people, the journey, affecting change, and continuous learning.

“I believe that safety is the continuous positive actions by many,” said the health and safety director for Mobilinx in Mississauga, Ont. “So, designing a strategy for change, working with others to achieve that strategy, and — most of the time — enjoying the results, that is what makes for a great day in health and safety.”

Day is regarded as an OH&S professional who is constantly elevating safety standards at Mobilinx.

Through the COVID-19 pandemic, he collaborated with McMaster University in Hamilton, Ont., on a saliva testing program to reduce the spread of coronavirus by asymptomatic individuals.

By leveraging technology and data, Day has been able to gain a deeper understanding of how his teams function when it comes to health and safety.

“From very early on, I learned the importance of data and how powerful it can be to change behaviours, get budgets approved — or even considered — and overall, drive the right message and focus throughout an organization.”

A proud CRSP certificant, Day regularly volunteers for the national board as a brand ambassador.
