London, ON (Tuesday, May 13, 2014) – The Personal Safety Division of 3M Canada today announced the launch of the 3M Safety App. The first of its kind, the Safety App from 3M takes a complex catalogue of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and simplifies the selection process, to quickly identify and share the right 3M safety products. Today it is available for free on the App Store.

“Our customers will love how easy the 3M Safety App makes navigating the safety catalogue,” said Jason Grouette, Business Manager, Personal Safety Division, 3M Canada. “The PPE market is complicated, and for many safety specialists choosing the right product can be confusing. Our customers are going to see how simple we’ve made this complex product category.”

3M Canada is putting the power of 3M Personal Safety in the hands of those who need it most. No more ear-marking catalogues, searching for a tech data sheet, image or brochure, or simply going with a best guess. The 3M Safety App includes more than 2,400 3M safety products in the following categories: Disposable and Reusable Respiratory Protection; Powered and Supplied Air Respiratory Protection; Hearing Conservation; Protective Clothing; Fall Protection; Hard Hats and Visors; Protective Eyewear; and Welding Protection.

The 3M Safety App prompts the user with unique filters or questions to arrive at the best available options. Building a complex product system, like a Powered Air Respiratory Kit, becomes as easy as answering a series of questions. The 3M Safety App ensures selection of only compatible 3M safety products and accessories.

3M Canada worked with development partner ResIM to build the Safety App.  A Canadian interactive agency, ResIM builds native iOS and Android applications that deliver value and high performance through a customer-focused approach.

“Developing an offering like the 3M Safety App is rewarding because of the potential it has for improving lives with something that is so simple from the user’s perspective,” said Jonathan Kochis, Partner, ResIM. “Apps are incredible tools to build; neatly packaged behind an icon – simply tap it and it can educate you, help you connect with others, or specifically in this case, improve workflow and the ability to serve customers.”
