Separate incidents result in various ailments
GRAND FORKS, B.C. — Six RCMP officers have recently been injured in various incidents in B.C.’s Interior while arresting what Mounties are calling “volatile individuals.”
RCMP say the injuries began in Grand Forks on Oct. 3, when a 35-year-old intoxicated man allegedly forced an officer to the ground, continued assaulting him and escaped, leaving the officer with non-life-threatening injuries.
Three days later, police say a man who damaged property during a mental health crisis suddenly lunged at two responding officers who used a conducted energy weapon to subdue him after one of the officers sustained a broken arm.
On Wednesday, RCMP say three officers in Kamloops suffered injuries while working together to apprehend an offender who led them on a dangerous pursuit.
Police say one of the officers was injured during a crash as the suspect allegedly side-swiped a cruiser and a second officer sustained an arm injury while trying to avoid being hit by the suspect’s vehicle.
RCMP say the third officer received an arm injury while arresting the suspect.
