Public health unit advises all Kingston restaurant workers to get tested for COVID

KINGSTON, Ont. — Public health officials are advising all restaurant workers in Kingston, Ont., to get tested for COVID-19 after a rise in cases linked to food establishments in the city
The Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox and Addington Public Health unit says a total of 15 workers at 10 different Kingston fast food locations have tested positive for the virus in the last two weeks.
It says the recommendation for restaurant staff to get tested is “out of an abundance of caution.”
The department says the risk of exposure to the public is very low and there are no cases linked to customers.
The health unit’s resident physician, Dr. Ethan Toumishey, says hours at a local testing centre have been extended until Nov. 27 to accommodate demand.
Toumishey says only workers who are symptomatic at the time of testing are required to self-isolate while waiting for results.
