Smithfield, RI — Biosystems has introduced a new line of economical, disposable personal gas detectors that will continuously monitor for toxic gases in the environment for a full 24 months after activation. The ToxiLTD(tm) gas detector can monitor for CO, H2S, or O2, depending on the sensor installed, and alerts workers to the presence of these gases using both visual and audible alarms.

The ToxiLTD has UL and cUL intrinsic safety certifications, and is classified for use in Hazardous Locations Class I, Division 1, Groups A-D, where applicable. Global safety certifications are currently pending.

Enclosed in a sturdy, compact ABS case, with an over-molded, sure-grip rubber boot, the ToxiLTD detector is resistant to Radio Frequency Interference (RFI). The detector meets IPX5/IPX7 for water ingress, providing on-site gas detection under the most demanding conditions. The sensors are fully enclosed in the instrument for added durability and protection.

The ToxiLTD has a front mounted display for maximum visibility, and under normal conditions shows the life remaining in months or days. If the instrument encounters an alarm condition, a direct-reading is displayed. The ToxiLTD is equipped with a 20-incident event logger and a black box recorder. The ToxiLTD features one button operation, similar to other easy-to-use gas detectors from Biosystems.

A red LED alarm light on the front and top of the ToxiLTD detector offers visual notification of an alarm condition. In addition, the detector has an audible alarm that sounds at more rapid intervals, as danger levels rise. The multi-tone alarms register at up to 92 decibels at 10 cm. For high-noise applications, an optional vibrating alarm is also available.

ToxiLTD detectors can be easily attached to a shirt pocket, collar, belt, neckstrap or hard hat.
