Through this site, www.survivair.com/oshamedcert, users have the opportunity to receive medical certification in 5 to 10 minutes.
Survivairs new online medical evaluation program provides certification for employees that are required to use filtering facepiece respirators (dust masks), half mask, or full facepiece respirators. Most users qualify by simply completing the online evaluation. Those that do not qualify on the first attempt may still qualify after a follow up online Q&A session with a board certified physician. The follow-up questions are evaluated by the on line medical staff and a response will be provided within 24-hours.
OSHA Standard 29CFR1910.134 requires all employers to provide a medical evaluation to determine an employees ability to use a respirator before fit testing or respirator use occurs in the workplace, says Roger Forrest, National Product Sales Manager for Survivair. For employers, these requirements can be expensive and time consuming. Survivair and OSHAMedCert can now provide a fast, more cost-effective alternative.
