SC Johnson Professional Canada, a total solutions provider for industrial, institutional and healthcare users, has had its alcohol hand sanitizer approved to make virucidal claims by Health Canada.

The company said it’s the first such alcohol hand sanitizer to receive this approval from Health Canada under the 2019 Human-Use Antiseptic Drug (HUAD) guidance.

SC Johnson Professional’s InstantFOAM alcohol hand sanitizer has been approved by Health Canada under the requirements. This means it is effective against all enveloped viruses, some (norovirus and rotavirus) but not all non-enveloped viruses, fungi and is effective against all bacteria.

“InstantFOAM is ideal for use in any work environment or area where hand hygiene is required,” the company said in a press release. “It is perfume free, dye free, contains moisturizers and is available in a 1L cartridge, a 1L TouchFREE Ultra cartridge, a 400mL pump bottle and a 47mL pump bottle to meet the hand hygiene requirements of any facility.”
