Montreal, QC 2006 — The fall protection engineers at North have designed the lightest self-retracting lifeline that is also serviceable. Until now, fall arrest blocks were heavy and serviceable or light and disposable. The Duralite lll is made of a lightweight nylon housing that is impact resistant and weighs only 1.1 kg (2.4lbs). This lightweight unit is a favorite of workers using a telescopic pole or first man up systems. It is one of the only Type 1 units that is serviceable, reducing the cost of ownership. The centrifugal braking system is far superior to the traditional car seat belt technology in other units. The unit will not lock up when the worker is traveling to or from the anchor. The Duralite lll employs Dyneema polyester webbing because it is more durable and also cut-resistant. The load indicator is built right into the snap hook so that the worker can quickly see if the unit requires servicing. A swiveling anchor prevents the webbing from twisting and tangling.
