Industrial Scientific Named Exclusive Sponsor for”Mock” Meth Lab Exhibit at Industrial Hygiene Conference
Health & Safety
PITTSBURGH – Industrial Scientific Corporation, the innovative leader in gas detectors and gas monitoring equipment, will be the exclusive gas detection category sponsor of a “mock” methamphetamine laboratory at the 2006 American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Expo (AIHce). The conference will be held May 15-17 at McCormick Place, Chicago, IL, U.S.A., and attended by industrial hygienists and occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) professionals from around the world.
The “mock” methamphetamine laboratory will be set up in the AIHce expo hall to demonstrate the health and safety issues faced by first responders, law enforcement personnel and OEHS professionals who deal with illegal drug labs and meth-contaminated properties. “Industrial Scientific is eager to discuss our gas detection solutions with attendees at the AIHce show,” said Dave Kuiawa, Sales Manager, North and South America. “This sponsorship will provide us the opportunity to highlight the products specifically used to protect individuals in ‘meth’ lab seizures from dangerous atmospheric hazards.” In addition to this sponsorship, Industrial Scientific will be displaying their full line of gas detecting and monitoring equipment at booth number 111 on the show floor.
The growing popularity of methamphetamine is fueled by the reality that “meth” is an almost instantly addictive drug that can be manufactured almost anywhere using inexpensive, easily obtainable ingredients. The production of this illegal stimulant also poses a threat to the general public because of the dangerous mix of toxic and volatile chemicals used in its production. Proper gas detection equipment is essential for identifying potentially dangerous atmospheric conditions and to ensure the safety of individuals involved in the seizure and cleanup of clandestine labs.
The 2006 American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Expo is co-sponsored by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH).
