French Diplomat Visits Industrial Scientific Corporate Headquarters

Discussions focus on the continued success of French acquisition

PITTSBURGH 28 Aug 2006 Industrial Scientific Corporation, a global leader in gas detection and monitoring instruments, systems and related services, welcomed Honorary Consul of France, Mr. Jean-Pierre Collet to its corporate headquarters today. Since its acquisition of French gas detection equipment manufacturer Oldham S.A. in May, Industrial Scientific has sought to develop local and international connections that will further augment an already successful working relationship and cultural understanding among the two companies.

As a liaison to the French community of Pittsburgh, Collet was invited to tour Industrial Scientifics Oakdale, PA manufacturing facility and meet with Chairman and CEO Kent McElhattan. We are proud to host Mr. Collet today and are honored by his support and encouragement, McElhattan said. Industrial Scientific now has over 300 employees in France, all of whom we respect even more after working together for several months on integration. We are very pleased with the technical skills and competencies they have added to our company. They are making a crucial contribution by expanding our product offerings and increasing service levels to our multinational customers.

McElhattan is also interested in tapping the French community for talented, bilingual individuals that may be qualified for several employment opportunities currently available within the growing company. And I hope Industrial Scientific can play a larger role within Pittsburghs French community, he added.

Collet shared his optimism for Industrial Scientifics future in the global gas detection market. Companies are successful if they have a good product and good management, Collet stated. Industrial Scientific has done a very good job of recognizing that there is a world outside of Pittsburgh, and all the ingredients for success are there.
