Pittsburgh, PA (May 1, 2012) – The Draeger X-act 5000 automatic tube pump is the first all-in-one solution for Draeger short-term tube measurements, sampling tubes and simultaneous tube systems. Simple handling and high reliability support accurate measurement and sampling of gases, vapors and aerosols.

The intrinsically safe Draeger X-act 5000 represents a totally new concept in automatic pump design. It can be used for short-term Draeger-Tubes, simultaneous test sets of five tubes, and sampling tubes. The pump control takes into account the specific flow characteristic required for each tube. Compared to the Draeger accuro hand gas detector pump, the X-act 5000 can reduce the average measurement time considerably for multiple stroke tubes. The internal pump capacity allows the use of extension hoses with a length of up to 98 feet.

Automatically transfers measurement parameters

All relevant measurement parameters are contained in a bar code printed on the back of the short-term Draeger-Tube packaging. By simply swiping the bar code over the pump’s bar code reader, the name of the substance to be measured, the number of strokes, and the measuring range are automatically transferred to the X-act 5000. Thus, the preparation for each measurement is simplified and the potential for error is significantly reduced. All parameters required for sampling can also be entered directly, depending on the sampling tube or system.

Measuring technical gases

Draeger-Tubes for short-term measurements are calibrated for measuring substances in ambient air. Technical gases have a different viscosity than ambient air, and therefore require an adjustment to the pump flow or a correction to the tube reading. The X-act 5000 can be adjusted automatically by connecting the pump to the technical gas. This is all handled through the pump’s intuitive menu, resulting in a direct tube reading without the need to manually apply a correction factor.

Eliminates the need for external flow meter

The X-act 5000 does not require the use of an external flow meter for sampling tubes or specialized sets. The flow rate is set using the intuitive menu with a few button presses. After the sampling time is set, the pump can be started immediately. The pump automatically stops at the end of the measurement. Draeger X-act 5000 is manufactured by Draeger Safety, Inc.
