Pittsburgh, PA (November 1, 2011) – Draeger has expanded its product portfolio of multi-gas detection devices for personal protection with the introduction of the new X-am 5600. Using infrared technology, the mobile device can measure up to six gases simultaneously. With its long lifespan and robust design, the X-am 5600 is ideal for use in the petrochemical industry, the utilities segment, and other industrial applications.

The heart of the X-am 5600 device is its patented dual infrared sensor which can measure explosive, flammable and toxic gases, as well as carbon dioxide and oxygen. Reducing the need for multiple instruments, it is ideal for applications in which both explosive gases and carbon dioxide may occur. Safety is improved because the infrared sensors have increased poison resistance, do not depend on oxygen being present in the atmosphere in order to work, and can be used in inert environments.

Expanding Range and Productivity

The X-am 5600 can be used in conjunction with the Draeger X-zone 5000 area monitor to expand its operating range and improve productivity. Using wireless technology, the X-zone 5000 provides state-of-the-art area monitoring allowing the user to easily transform your X-am 5600 from a personal monitor to a portable area monitoring device.

The expected life cycle of the infrared sensors is more than eight years.  In comparison, one catalytic Ex sensor typically must be changed after three to four years of operation. The extended service life and lower maintenance requirements reduce the operating costs of the device.

With its convenient two-button operation and a streamlined menu of features, the X-am 5600 is efficient and easy to operate. Weighing less than nine ounces the X-am 5600 is the smallest IR capable personal gas monitoring device available.

The Draeger X-am 5600 is manufactured by Draeger Safety AG & Co. KGaA. Draeger. Technology for Life®
