London, ON (May 24, 2012) – 3M has long been a leader in occupational health and safety, especially with regards to respiratory protection – 40 years to be exact. Today, 3M Canada is excited to launch the celebration of the 40th anniversary of 3M respiratory solutions with a unique contest.

3M introduced its first NIOSH-approved filtering facepiece respirator in 1972. Since then, the product portfolio has been expanded to include numerous innovative technologies and products, all designed to increase safety but also keep workers comfortable on the job.

3M’s respiratory products keep Canadians comfortable, cool, and protected,” said Drew McCallum, Portfolio Manager, Respiratory Solutions. “What better way to celebrate the great achievement of 40 years as a leader in respiratory protection than to hear from our customers who rely on our products to keep them protected every day?”

3M Canada invites all Canadians who rely on 3M respiratory protection – whether they use 3M respirators for DIY projects around the house or utilize 3M respirators on the job day-in and day-out – to share their stories about how 3M respiratory products keep them safe, comfortable, and cool at www.3M.ca/40years. Participants will have the chance to win a Nikon® COOLPIX® camera or one of 40 VISA® gift cards, just for sending in their story and a photo.

3M offers solutions for worker comfort, including 3M’s proprietary Cool Flow exhalation valves that release hot, humid exhaled breath and lower temperatures under the respirator, improving wearer comfort. The entire Versaflo Series of Power and Supplied Air respirators provide the highest possible level of comfort and protection. Air flowing into the lightweight headgear can be directed for more comfort. On some models it can also be heated or cooled, as appropriate. Other models allow cool air to be circulated not just in headgear but under work garments as well.
