Officers hurt after vehicle crashes into parked police cruiser in Burnaby, B.C.

BURNABY, B.C. – RCMP say two officers were injured when a vehicle crashed into a parked police cruiser in Burnaby, B.C.

Mounties say in a news release the police vehicle had pulled over at the side of a road when it was struck just before noon.

The release says two male officers from the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service were standing near the cruiser and were hurt in the crash.

It says the officers, one an RCMP member and the other an integrated member from the Abbotsford Police Department, are being treated in hospital.

Their injuries are believed to be serious but non-life-threatening, and police are hoping to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision.

Mounties did not immediately say whether the driver of the suspect vehicle remained at the scene and say no further details will be released at this time.
