TORONTO, ON June 10, 2003 The Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) and the Ontario Physiotherapy Association (OPA) are pleased to announce William G. Tholl, Secretary General and CEO of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), as keynote speaker during the Opening Reception of Leadership 2003 A Conference for Physiotherapists.

A renowned figure in Canadas health system, Mr. Tholl will explore the importance of physiotherapy in the future of health care, and discuss todays volatile health environment against the context of his current position and his previous position as senior official with Health Canada. Mr. Tholl is an internationally recognized expert consultant in matters of health finances, health policy and strategic planning and management. His background and expertise have resulted in appointments to several Boards and Committees of health related organizations, including the Canadian Stroke Network, CMA Holdings and the Canadian Medical Foundation. Mr. Tholls keynote address will take place from 6:30 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 4, in the Mountbatten Salon of the Delta Chelsea Hotel (33 Gerrard Street West, Toronto).

This three-day Conference, taking place from July 4 to 6, will feature enlightening presentations, workshops and demonstrations with 30 of Canadas leaders in the physiotherapy profession.

Leadership 2003 places the high priority needs of our members front and centre, says Pamela Fralick, CPA CEO. Delegates can share their expertise with colleagues, contribute to provocative discussion, meet leaders in the profession, add to their own knowledge and skills, and have fun.

The Conference is made up of three concurrent educational streams: Leadership, Musculoskeletal Imbalance, and Private Practice:

Leadership Stream With CPAs strategic direction of building leadership within its membership and the health system, Leadership 2003 was planned around this two-day leadership stream. Delegates will participate in a full-day workshop facilitated by Nancy McKay and Lesley Bainbridge followed by a series of workshops and breakout sessions on the second day.

Musculoskeletal Imbalance One of the world leaders in rehabilitation, Shirley Sahrmann, from the Washington University School of Medicine, will present Level I of her internationally recognized program Musculoskelatal Imbalance, offering delegates a high-quality, informative and relevant learning experience.

Private Practice In recognition of the growing number of issues that are relevant to the increasing volume of physiotherapists working in the private sector, this program stream will focus on both management and clinical skills. Leaders in both business and clinical areas will share their experience and knowledge to help physiotherapists grow and excel in private sector service delivery.

Ken Higgs, CPA President, remarks, I am looking forward to the opportunity to meet and visit with the many delegates and leaders attending from across the country. The program offers something for everyone, including sessions led by leaders of the profession. Higgs continues, The biggest challenge may be in just deciding what to attend.

Leadership 2003 A Conference for Physiotherapists promises to be an exciting and dynamic weekend for all attendees. The keynote address with William G.
