The Laser Safety Officer Training Course is an in depth 2-day course designed for individuals with responsibilities as a Laser Safety Officer.

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia

Dalhousie University

Date: October 5-6, 2015

This unique course provides a Canadian context to meet provincial and federal requirements while examining the various ANSI standards and the updated ANSI Z136.1 (2014) Safe Use of Lasers. The course will provide a solid background for an administrative laser safety program and will provide an overview of the different mathematical calculations that may be required in laser safety.

Course tools allow participants to develop and maintain excellence in laser safety program at their own facilities.

Who should participate?

This course is ideal for Laser Safety Officers working with Class 3b or Class 4 lasers in hospital, university or commercial environments or anyone requiring additional knowledge of a LSO. A certificate will be issued to participants who successfully complete the course.

  • Legislation
  • Laser Safety Program Elements

Day 2

  • Risk Assessment
  • Control Measures for Beam Hazards
  • Inspections, Audits and Investigations
  • Incident investigation analysis
  • Accidents – case studies

Class discussions, and exercises supplement training materials. No pre requisites required for course participation.
