Proficiency in first aid, CPR, and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) can significantly increase the chances of saving a life. For this reason, certification in first aid and CPR is a legal requirement for workplaces across Ontario. With proper training, acquiring these skills is easily achievable and empowers individuals to provide effective care when aiding someone in distress. As an official Red Cross First Aid and CPR training partner, Workers Health & Safety Centre (WHSC), Ontario’s only government-designated health and safety training centre is now offering much needed first aid and CPR training to all workplace parties. To start, on-site training is available now for workers, their representatives, supervisors and employers, with community-based training to follow this summer for all.
Did you know all businesses covered by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA) are required to have first aid equipment, facilities and trained personnel in all workplaces? WHSC’s delivery of WSIB-approved Red Cross training meets legislative requirements set out in WSIA.
