RAEShare simplifies the delivery of secure situational data to remote experts, providing enhanced decision making information for first responders and security personnel

SUNNYVALE, Calif. April 12, 2005 RAE Systems Inc. (AMEX: RAE), a leading global developer and manufacturer of rapidly-deployable, multi-sensor chemical and radiation detection monitors and networks for homeland security and industrial applications, today announced the launch of RAEShare, a hosted service that provides first responders and security officers true data integration and portability. RAEShare aggregates and stores sensor data from multiple AreaRAE networks and allows users to share this real-time data through a secure online interface with experts in remote locations. Wireless AreaRAE sensor networks are currently used for HazMat response, public venue protection, indoor air security and environmental fenceline monitoring.

Data compatibility and interoperability when responding to a HazMat spill or terrorist incident is critical. The RAEShare service delivers life-critical information in seconds and enables real-time decision making for emergency response and community protection, trend analysis for long-term environmental studies at fenceline and industrial settings, and corporate-level safety monitoring for public venues and remote facilities, said Bob Durstenfeld, director of corporate marketing for RAE Systems. Since RAEShare is a web-hosted solution, first responders and industrial hygienists can access aggregated sensor data and leverage remote expertise anywhere in the world, even using mobile phone service if no network connection is present.

After an AreaRAE wireless network is deployed, the RAEShare service enables ProRAE Remote software installed on the host controller to route the sensor data to the assigned RAEShare server address. If a network connection is inaccessible, RAEShare service packages offer an optional mobile Internet connection that works anywhere that a user has mobile phone service available. Remote users and experts with appropriate login IDs and passwords can then view the secure real-time data online. All sensor data is recorded, saved, and accessible on the server for up to 24 hours, optionally expandable to 180 days.

The RAEShare service is hosted at Hurricane Electric, a premier business technical service provider (TSP), that specializes in technical web hosting, dedicated servers and collocation services. RAEShare can be configured to send alert notifications to end users in remote locations. Users are no longer required to continuously monitor the readings at the host controller computer. Alerts can be sent in a variety of formats including emails, SMS text messages, HTTP posts, FTP, and SNMP traps. Multiple threshold values can be set for each sensor in each monitor, so when sensor values reach a pre-defined threshold, remote users are notified.

The RAEShare provides the following key advantages to first responders and environmental security personnel:

Simplicity. All setup, maintenance, and server upgrades are performed by RAE Systems technical personnel. Typical setup and usage do not require involvement from an organizations IT department.

Ease of setup. After purchasing the product, users can begin viewing remote sensor data in a secure online environment and begin receiving remote alerts within five minutes of activation.

Security. Each AreaConnect 500 server is capable of using HTTPS authentication for secure logins, and SSL for data encryption, the same powerful security measures used by online banking firms, government agencies, and Internet retailers.

Exclusivity. Each user has exclusive access to a dedicated AreaConnect 500 server. Servers are not shared among multiple users.

Speed. Servers are housed at a dedicated hosting facility with an ultra-fast OC-48 direct network connection.

Reliability. The housing facility for the servers provides environmental climate control, backup power generators, individually locked cabinets, and 24/7 on-site security.

RAEShare is available in a variety of monthly and yearly service plans, either as an IP address only or with mobile cellular service. For details on pricing and availability, please visit the RAE Systems website, call 1-877-723-2878 or e-mail raesales@raesystems.com.
