RAE Systems Launches EntryRAE, Creating New Standard for Confined Space Entry Hazardous Gas Detection

Comprehensive combustibles detection and broad spectrum toxicity protection in one affordable monitor

SUNNYVALE, Calif. April 20, 2004 RAE Systems Inc. (AMEX: RAE), a leading global developer and manufacturer of rapidly-deployable, multi-sensor chemical and radiation detection monitors and networks for homeland security and industrial applications, today announced that it has launched the EntryRAE, a superior and affordable personal gas monitor for OSHA compliant, hazardous confined space entry (CSE) work.

RAE Systems has added its industry leading photoionization detector (PID) to the EntryRAE. Unlike typical CSE gas monitors that only detect combustible vapors and three gases – oxygen, carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulfide, the EntryRAE adds broadband protection from the toxic and chronic effects of the industrial compounds common to many modern products and processes. Paints, fuels, degreasers, adhesives, solvents, pesticides, herbicides all contain volatile organics compounds (VOCs). Toxic at parts-per-million levels of concentration, VOCs go undetected by typical CSE gas monitors. Able to detect VOCs at extremely low concentrations, the PID-enhanced EntryRAE provides the broadband protection needed to protect the long-term health and safety of CSE personnel who need to do work in storage tanks, utility vaults, fuel depots and other areas with limited ventilation.
