Smithfield, RI (January 21, 2005) — The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has certified the Survivair Opti-Fit CBRN Full Facepiece Gas Mask with the Model 1690 CBRN Canister against exposure to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) agents, officials at Survivair Respirators, Inc. announced today. Under approval number TC-14G-0272, the Opti-Fit CBRN Gas Mask was certified to the NIOSH CBRN Statement of Standard for Full-Facepiece Air Purifying Respirator (APR) which establishes testing and certification requirements for respiratory protection of emergency responders against CBRN agents.

The NIOSH approved Opti-Fit CBRN Gas Mask utilizes an anti-scratch coated polycarbonate lens, for a virtually distortion-free field of vision, and meets the optical, impact and penetration requirements of ANSI Z87.1-1989. The durable facepiece skirt is constructed of chemical resistant Butyl rubber. The Opti-Fit three position canister mounting option allows for side or front mounting. Available in three sizes, the Opti-Fit CBRN Gas Mask offers an adjustable, five-strap silicone head harness for easy donning and removal. Additional accessories include an optional drink tube, spectacle insert kit for prescription eyewear, and a low-profile black nylon carry pouch with shoulder strap.

The Model 1690 CBRN Canister has been approved for protection against a variety of chemicals that could potentially be used in an attack, including Sarin (GB) and Mustard (HD) warfare agents. The Model 1690 includes a P100 filter and standard DIN-thread, making installation and removal quick and easy.
