PITTSBURGH, PA, USA – 12 Oct 2007 – Industrial Scientific Corporation, a global leader in gas detection and monitoring instruments, systems and related services, was named the Advanced Manufacturing Category Leader at the Pittsburgh Technology Council’s Tech 50 Awards Program.

The Program annually recognizes the region’s leading technology-oriented companies in five categories for achievements in growth and innovation.

Industrial Scientific serves its customers with a unique blend of hardware and software solutions. This is best exemplified by the groundbreaking technology behind the iNet(tm) service program.

This comprehensive, service-based solution allows customers to outsource management of their entire gas detection fleet to Industrial Scientific – eliminating several cost-intensive and time-consuming tasks. Currently, iNet manages over 12,200 gas detection instruments from around the world.

An independent panel of technology experts evaluated Tech 50 Award nominees headquartered in the 13-county southwestern Pennsylvania region. The panel based their selections on several criteria including sales growth, employee growth and retention, innovation, and market leadership.

In the past year, Industrial Scientific doubled organic sales, its customer base and its product offering, while acquiring a major European competitor. The Advanced Manufacturing category encompasses industries that are largely automated and use a high degree of process controls, robotics, advanced IT systems and other automated processes.
