Industrial Scientific Board Announces Election of Kent D. McElhattan as Chairman and CEO

PITTSBURGH, PA, USA 09 June 2006 Industrial Scientific Corporation announces today that its Board of Directors elected Kent D. McElhattan to the newly created position of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Kent has been Chief Executive Officer since the Corporations founding in 1985.

In his new role, Mr. McElhattan will continue to be the driving force on corporate strategy, leading the three corporate divisions established following the acquisition of Oldham S.A. last month. Our highest priorities will be to ensure that the momentum we have begun will continue to result in delivering the best solutions to our customers, said Kent. With a razor sharp focus on gas detection and an expanded global presence, Industrial Scientific is poised to serve the worldwide market needs with the highest quality products and best customer service.

By unanimous vote, the Board of Directors passed the resolution for election, effective today, at the 2006 Annual Meeting of Industrial Scientific Corporation. There could not be a more ideal time to relinquish my position as Chairman to the person most qualified to lead the Board of Directors of this growing Corporation, states Kenton E. McElhattan, Chairman since 1985. Under Kents leadership, Industrial Scientific has grown from a small company catering to the mining community to an international company and global leader serving virtually every industry with quality gas detection products and services.
