CALGARY, AB – Danatec’s award-winning WHMIS product line now includes new supplemental information on the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) which has come into effect in Europe and the United States with Canada not far behind. This new supplemental information will help employees recognize and understand new Symbols, Standard Words and Phrases as well as different MSDS formats they may start seeing.

While WHMIS regulators continue to meet to consult about changes to WHMIS, a clear deadline has not been identified for full implementation. Next steps include the consultations with stakeholders, economic analysis, revised legislation, proposed legislative changes (e.g., to the Hazardous Products Act and Controlled Products Regulation) to be published in Canada Gazette I and the final legislation to be published in the Canada Gazette II.

Danatec wants to ensure their customers are aware of what they need to know now in regards to GHS in Canada. It is important to know that they do not need to retrain and that all of Danatec’s WHMIS products updated with GHS are for information only as there have been no Canadian regulatory changes at this time.
