It is good to see that good sense has prevailed even if only for these less than 100 miners. What I find disturbing is that several WCBs/WSIBs administrators appear to have totally written off the prime intent of the acts that gave their organizations birth - and I include Veterans Affairs Canada for what should be obvious reasons.

Their aims are often phrased in this manner

"WCB-Alberta, working together with our partners, will significantly and measurably reduce the impact of workplace illness and injury on Albertans."

Most organizations end up failing because they did not hold to their founding principles. They become monolithic blocks of baffling beaurocracies that only serve the beaurocratic employees and not the clients. One only has to recall the incredible shake-up the north american auto industry received.
