Who Should Take this Course?

Online Fire Extinguisher Training is designed for persons who may need to use a fire extinguisher in their home or their workplace. Training in the use of fire extinguishers is particularly important for persons who provide care for others, either in their own home or in a workplace environment, such as daycares, educational facilities, health care facilities and correctional facilities.


Course Format:

Online Fire Extinguisher Training is self-paced, with each lesson and module led by an experienced workplace safety training instructor, on video, who covers the course content in plain language. The instructor is supported by a number of multi-media tools, such as live action video sequences, photographs, animations, text and interactive 3D models that provide 'virtual hands-on' experience with the PASS principle. A printable certificate of completion will be provided on fulfillment of all course requirements. This course has been developed to educate participants on the classification and extinguishment of fires, as well as types of extinguishers available with live demonstrations.


Course Objectives:

Through this course, participants will gain a basic understanding of the chemistry of fire and the proper actions to take upon discovery of a fire. Participants will also be able to identify the different classes of fire and correctly select and use the proper fire extinguishers and fire extinguishing agents for each.
