Police lay murder charge in fatal stabbing at Calgary medical clinic

CALGARY – A 42-year-old Calgary man is scheduled to appear in court on Monday to face a charge of first-degree murder in the stabbing death of the owner of a Chinese wellness centre.

Jin Huang (ZHIN HWANG) is accused of attacking 51-year-old Tiejun Huang (tye-ZHOON’ HWANG). The two men are not believed to be related but police say the accused may have believed the doctor had some sort of relationship with his wife.

Inspector Don Coleman alleges the accused was agitated when he arrived at the clinic and got into a verbal altercation with the doctor, which then escalated.

Coleman says police know of one report of a domestic incident in the past between the accused and his wife, who are believed to have children together.

He says the wife has been a patient at the clinic for a substantial period of time.

A woman who was a patient at the clinic — not the accused’s wife — sustained minor injuries in the incident and has been released from hospital.
