About
OHS CANADA is the leading Canadian occupational health and safety magazine. We publish
eight issues per year: Jan/Feb, March, April/May, June, July/August, September,
Oct/Nov and December. (If anyone is keeping track, that makes us a sesqui-monthly.)
OHS Canada Magazine is published by Business Information Group, a division of Hollinger
Canadian Newspapers, L.P.
Readers: We define our audience as "people who make decisions about health and safety
in the workplace" and reach approximately 100,000 Canadian readers with each issue.
Readers include managers, safety coordinators, oh&s staff, ergonomists, hygienists,
loss control specialists, engineers, doctors, nurses, health and safety committee
members, environment managers and safety representatives in organized labor.
Mission: OHS CANADA serves workplace health and safety decision makers. It's designed
to keep workers, managers and safety professionals informed on major issues, up
to date on new developments, and in touch with current thinking in the oh&s community.
Circulation: OHS CANADA is unique among safety magazines in that we are a paid circulation
publication, while other Canadian and American oh&s magazines are distributed free
to everyone on their mailing lists. The fact that readers pay for the magazine buys
us a high degree of editorial independence.
Content: Every issue of OHS CANADA includes feature stories dealing with trends,
new developments and emerging issues in health and safety, as well as case studies
and profiles of innovative and successful programs. Regular 'department' articles
deal with specific issues in the following areas:
- Accident prevention
- Ergonomics
- Health and safety law
- Workers' compensation
- Occupational hygiene
- Health
- Safety purchasing
- Training
News, letters, Problem Solver, a humour column and a back-page opinion piece round
out the contents.
OHS CANADA invites comments, questions and suggestions from readers. See the Contact Us section for telephone numbers, our mailing address and e-mail addresses for key staff members.
